Crown Cork are a large contract packing company based in Mansfield. They offer brand building packaging and have been in business since 1982.
They contacted Camline Palletising Systems following an increase in demand which left them with a requirement to introduce further automation in their production process. Their “round tin” production lines required two operators to palletise these products at the end of the line and had become very labour intensive; the two lines required a total of four people to complete this.
The problem that they faced in terms of integrating an automated palletising solution was that they only had a limited amount of space for a machine. As a result of this, we re-designed the layout of our compact modular system in order for it to fit the specific footprint which they had available.
Following the installation of the CPS Palletiser they were able to achieve speeds of 60 tins per minute to be automatically palletised as they came off the production line. This meant that the four operators were able to concentrate on other production aspects. Following the successful installation of the first palletiser, Crown cork placed an order for a second line which was required for the same process however for different types of tins.
Our competition offered them a robot palletiser which was twice the price and twice the size of the solution that CPS provided; an expensive alternative to achieve the same results. CPS are now the preferred supplier of palletising equipment for Crown Cork due to the significant cost savings which they have experienced and also due to the robustness and reliability of the equipment provided.
