Cadbury’s

CPS offer Cadburys a sweet deal.

The bar was set high but CPS managed to blow the competition out of the water when Mondelez/Kraft, better known as Cadbury's looked to introduce further automation in their Wrexham plant.

The chocolate giant required a bespoke palletising system which we designed and built in house with an additional integrated pallet dealer, three stage pallet conveyor, and layer card applicator to complement the CPS compact palletiser. Along with this we, also designed and built a bespoke infeed conveyor system which allowed two different production lines to feed two different types of product onto the palletiser.

The first production line consisted of individual tubs of drinking chocolate which needed to be fed into the palletiser and placed onto the pallet. The second line produced smaller tubs of drinking chocolate which had been shrink wrapped in trays prior to palletising. To accommodate this, CPS used a change part gripper head. This included our Joulin multipack head along with a custom-made Piab vacuum head.

This system was built to adhere to the extremely high build specification set by Mondelez/Kraft which included changing from our standard Omron programming software to being written using Allen Bradley.
